Growing Eremophila – available to purchase

Designed for ease of use by the home gardener Growing Eremophila is a comprehensive guide to the current Eremophila in cultivation. Almost 400 species have a dedicated page with full colour photographs and detail on natural habitat; description; propagation; cultivation and author’s notes. At the conclusion of the book, a useful comparative table provides a snapshot of what species will suit specific growing conditions together with flower and leaf colour swatches.

Growing Eremophila was published in 2021 by Russell Wait and was co-authored with Christine Huf, Cathy Powers and Dr Jenny West with a forward by Dr Bob Chinnock, Honorary Research Associate, State Herbarium of South Australia.

The book also includes a brief overview of some scientific studies of Eremophila DNA analysis by Dr Rachael Fowler, Post Doctoral Research Fellow, University of Melbourne and the potential use of Eremophila chemicals in medicine by Professor Hans Griesser, University of South Australia.

Review by Jane Edmanson, Gardening Australia Magazine, November 2021, p 14

‘Eremophilas have recently gained popularity, being tough, needing little water once established, and having colourful flowers that attract insects and birds. Wait’s discoveries and successes in growing, manintenance and propagation are covered in detail, with magnificent photos and useful notes.’

Australia’s Eremophilas; changing gardens for a changing climate – SOLD OUT

Launched in 2008 at the 7th FJC Rogers Seminar on Eremophilas, the book detailed 215 species and subspecies. It was a timely publication after many years of drought across the country and encouraged gardeners to embrace Eremophila as a water wise option.
